Police are investigating an armed robbery outside a hotel in Windsor Locks where a man said he was assaulted.
The robbery was reported in the late night hours on Tuesday at the Bradley Inn hotel at 5 Ella Grasso Turnpike, according to the Windsor Locks Police Department.
Preliminary information given to responding officers indicated a man was robbed in the parking lot by a man wearing dark clothing, a hood on his head and a mask that covered half his face, police said. The individual allegedly used force to take two rings from the man and punched him in the face when he refused to give up a third ring, according to police.
The alleged thief had a handgun but did not fire it, police said. He fled after the robbery.
Officers set up a perimeter around the area with assistance from the Windsor Police Department. They also used a K-9 unit but could not find the individual, police said.
Police said the man suffered minor injuries. It was not clear if he needed medical attention.
The incident remains under investigation.
