Police have arrested a man in connection with a double shooting in New Haven last month that left two people dead.
Sergio Thomas was arrested Friday in connection with the killings of 26-year-old Daiquan Hyman of East Haven and 32-year-old Ernest Williams of New Haven, according to the New Haven Police Department.
Police said he was held in custody over the weekend and was expected to be arraigned on Monday in New Haven Superior Court.
Thomas has been charged in connection with a double shooting on Aug. 25 in the area of 70 Dickerman St. where officers responded at 2:12 p.m. and found two victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said. Both men were unresponsive and were taken to a Yale New Haven Hospital.
According to police, one of the victims, later identified as Hyman, was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. Williams succumbed to his injuries later in the evening, police said.
Police said investigators found that an altercation allegedly broke out between a group of men before the shooting.
Police were expected to release additional details about Thomas’ arrest at a news conference on Monday afternoon.
