Police make second arrest in burglary of dozens of CT storage units where guns, other items stolen

Police have charged a second person in connection with a burglary at a storage unit facility in Norwalk where 89 units were burglarized and about $23,000 worth of property was stolen, including firearms.

Colt Meadows, 22, of West Haven was taken into custody on Tuesday in at Stamford Superior Court after investigators obtained a warrant for his arrest in connection with the burglary, according to Lt. Tomasz Podgorski of the Norwalk Police Department.

Meadows faces five counts each of third-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, two counts each of conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny, theft of a firearm and conspiracy to commit theft of a firearm and a single count of first-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny and third-degree larceny. His bond was set at $50,000, and he was expected to be arraigned on Wednesday.

The charges stem from a commercial burglary reported on July 1, 2024, at Cubesmart at 162 Bouton St., Podgorski said.

Norwalk police worked with several other law enforcement agencies during the lengthy investigation. Investigators found that a .357 revolver stolen during the burglary had been recovered in Branford, Podgorski said.

During the investigation, detectives developed 35-year-old Tylon Gardner of Hamden as a suspect. He was arrested on Sept. 10 and charged with five counts each of third-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, two counts each of theft of a firearm and conspiracy to commit theft of a firearm and a single count of first-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny, third-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny.

Gardner’s case remains pending in Stamford Superior Court, records show.
