Police: Man stabbed by another man intervening during domestic incident in CT

One person was taken to a hospital after being stabbed multiple times during a domestic incident in Willimantic on Sunday.

Officers responded to a residence on Pleasant Street around 5 p.m. on the report of a man being stabbed and immediately began administering lifesaving measures once they arrived because of the “severity of the injuries,” according to the Willimantic Police Department.

The man was initially taken to Windham Hospital and later transferred to Hartford Hospital, police said. His condition was not clear.

An investigation found that the stabbing victim had been involved in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend, police said. A man who was known to both individuals intervened and allegedly stabbed the man numerous times, according to police.

The man then allegedly took off on a scooter, police said. Police have not released his identity.

“This is an active and ongoing investigation,” Lt. Joshua Clark said in a statement. “Detectives are diligently gathering intelligence and collecting evidence.”

“This appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the public regarding this matter,” Clark said.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact police at 860-465-3135.
