Many Connecticut seafood fans are rejoicing the announced return of a longtime food staple on the shoreline.
Donahue’s Clam Castle owners say it will be returning to Madison this spring under previous ownership. The seafood spot announced the news on social media this weekend.
“The wait is almost over,” the announcement on Facebook said. “Donahue’s Clam Castle is coming back this spring, bringing back the original charm, legendary flavors, and proud New England tradition.
“We are restoring Donahue’s Clam Castle to its original recipes, serving classic seafood the Donahue way — just like it was meant to be.”

Donahue’s Clam Castle is to return to its familiar 1325 Boston Post Road location in Madison. Chris, Patrick and Dave Donahue bought the Clam Castle in 2014 and sold it nine years later, according to the post. In 2023, Taco Pacifico moved in and added Mexican fare to the Clam Castle menu. The family could not be reached for comment Sunday.
Taco Pacifico owner Greg Sharon announced on Facebook the sale back to the Donahue family on Saturday.
“Very happy to announce the sale of Clam Castle (back) to Donahues! After 16 years, Taco Pacifico has finally thrown in the towel, or dish rag in this case. It’s been nothing short of a wild ride & I’ve enjoyed serving all of you so much. Thank you for your loyalty & patronage – it’s what has kept me going this long. Southern California – the inspiration behind Taco Pacifico – is calling me back,” the announcement said.
Sharon also posted on his company website that something “unexpected” factored into the sale.
“To be honest, I’m totally burnt out! Yes, as fried as those golden tortilla chips. Maybe even as fried as the Clam Castle seafood we’ve been rolling out for the past three seasons. I always thought I had a few seasons left in me before calling it quits but [something] unexpected… this past November really pressed the fast forward button on my time in food service.”
The Donahue’s Clam Castle post said they will introduce the world’s biggest hot lobster roll.
“A jaw-dropping 24-inch lobster roll, inspired by the authentic taste of Maine and crafted to be the biggest and boldest lobster roll you’ll find anywhere — including right here in Connecticut,” Clam Castle posted on their Facebook page.
“A true classic returns. We can’t wait to welcome you back and serve you again. Donahue’s Clam Castle — tradition, taste, and history on every plate.”
Many seafood lovers posted comments sharing excitement about the return of Donahue’s Clam Castle.
“Your fish and shrimp tacos are the best and were missed. And the sweet potato tots. Can’t wait for spring!” one person commented.
