Why are you running for this office, and what specifically makes you a better candidate than your opponent(s)?
As a family man, successful small business owner, child advocate, and longtime community leader, who has served on numerous Palm Beach County boards and committees, I have a deep understanding of the issues affecting our community.
I believe in being transparent, accountable, and responsive to the needs of our residents.
I will bring a wealth of experience to the State House and am well equipped to advocate for more affordability, fiscal responsibility and innovative solutions that benefit everyone.
My opponent is a single-issue conspiracy theorist, infamous for her 2020 conspiracy known as Italygate which she peddled nationally claiming the Prime Minister of Italy used military satellites to change votes from Donald Trump to Joe Biden.
Additionally, her entire platform is the total elimination of all property taxes, leaving local governments with no funding for critical services like police, firefighters, education, parks and recreation, sanitation, etc.
Governor DeSantis and Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo support the elimination of all childhood vaccine mandates in Florida. Do you agree or disagree, and why?
I disagree. My opinion is more in line with that of President Trump. Some vaccines have been around for a long time. They work well and they are not controversial. Some of the newer vaccines have generated controversy and I would support making those optional verses mandatory.
Republican legislative leaders have broadly endorsed the concept of eliminating or significantly reducing property taxes in Florida, which would require approval by voters. Do you agree or disagree, and why?
I support providing homeowners with property tax relief to offset the increase in property taxes resulting from rising property values. The majority of Republicans in the legislature do not favor totally eliminating property taxes because they understand how dependent county governments and local municipalities are on property taxes to fund the great majority of their public services: police, firefighters, education, parks and recreation, sanitation, etc.
The city of Delray Beach has appealed an order from the state Department of Transportation to remove its rainbow crosswalk. Do you agree or disagree with the city’s decision and why?
The City of Delray Beach recently voted 4 to 1 to drop its challenge to the order from the state Department of Transportation to remove its rainbow crosswalk. The mayor and a majority of the city commission felt the cost of litigation to the taxpayers of Delray Beach could not be justified. I agree.
In the 2024 session, the Legislature passed a law (HB 1365) that prohibits homeless people from sleeping in public spaces. Would you have voted for or against this law and why?
I would have voted in favor of this law. That said, local governments should make every effort to provide homeless individuals with available resources and steer them toward programs and local non-profit organizations that can get them the assistance they need.
The Legislature in recent years has added many new exemptions to the public records law to keep information secret, such as for state university presidential searches. Would you have voted for or against this bill, and why?
I would have voted against this bill. I am a strong believer in transparency and government accountability. It is one of my key campaign promises.
Describe in specific detail one demographic, economic or social factor about your legislative district that sets it apart from all the others.
Unlike many house districts which are gerrymandered to accommodate a particular demographic, House District 90 is an extremely diverse district made up of individuals of all ages, ethnicities, religions, races, and socio-economic classes.
Have you been arrested, charged or convicted of a crime, had an adjudication withheld or had a matter sealed or expunged? If yes, please explain.
NO
Have you been a plaintiff or defendant in a civil action, including bankruptcy or foreclosure or had a restraining order issued against you? If so, please explain.
I was involved in a foreclosure action more than a decade ago.
