Readers speak: Shaking my head when CT complains about taxes and blames Democrats

I shake my head when I read letters to editor in the Courant, complaining about taxes and blaming Democrats.

The latest one in Saturday’s Courant was once again ranting about “arrogant” Democrats just putting in whatever they want and making them pay taxes.

Surging CT surplus approaches $2 billion. Top leader: ‘We’re going to take care of people in need’

Where were these people when Republican Lowell Weicker lied us into that Income tax? Where were they, when Rowland, the Republican, ran on lowering the income tax, but his 2003 budget raised them?  And then of course we had Republican Rell, in her 2009 budget raising them?

Significant tax relief went into effect in 2024 in large income tax cuts and expansion of tax credits and exemptions for pensions and annuities.

The state’s average weekly earnings are seventh highest in country. We rank as second top state for education, third for healthcare and fifth in quality of life.

I am not sure where some people get their information and news, but these complainers need to read the Courant more thoroughly for facts and truth.
