SCBL Fall Basketball: Action heats up and scoring totals rise as area standouts prep for winter

Here’s the latest report from the SCBL fall basketball league, held every Sunday at Executive Education, courtesy of league founder and director Ed Jennings and you’ll notice some familiar names like Liberty standout Ava Kopetskie, who has committed to Loyola of Maryland:

Girls Division

The Fever 41, The Sky 32

The Fever: Ava Kopetskie (Liberty senior, Loyola commit) led with 11 points.The Sky: Kendall Medina (Executive Charter sophomore) scored 8 points.

The Mercury 54, The Aces 51

The Mercury: Palin Coleman (Perkiomen sophomore) scored 13 points.The Aces: Jayanna Hill (Pottstown senior) also finished with 13 points.

Girls Division Players of the Week

Jayanna Hill; Palin Coleman.

Honorable mention: Ava Kopetskie.

NCAA Division (7th–9th Grade Boys)

Michigan State 63, Michigan 42

Michigan State: Tate Buck (Palmerton freshman) scored 16 points.Michigan: Elijah Rodriguez (Liberty High freshman) added 13 points.

Duke 57, UVA 51

Duke: Adrian Hanna (Emmaus freshman) dominated with 24 points.UVA: Kayden Sarver (Allen freshman) scored 18 points.

Georgetown 64, Cincinnati 62 (Double OT, Sudden Death)

Georgetown: Will Hastie (Saucon Valley freshman) scored 23 points and assisted on the game-winning shot. Xavier Beyah hit the sudden-death game winner.Cincinnati: Jayden Brown (Allen freshman, son of former Allen/Pius standout John Brown) 33 points.

NBA Division (10th–12th Grade Boys)

Nets 44, Lakers 41

Nets: Josh Amos-Abanyie (Executive junior) scored 14 points.Lakers: Matt Rooney (Emmaus junior) 13 points.

Rockets 72, Celtics 63

Rockets: Caleb Nation (Parkland sophomore) 22 points.Celtics: Noeah Newsome (Executiv sophomore) 18 points.

Warriors 109, Trail Blazers 92

First triple-digit game of the season.Warriors: Camren Michel (Executive freshman) 20 points..Trail Blazers: Emre Bahar (Perkiomen senior) 39 points.

Highlight Play of the WeekJosh Walkiewicz (Easton sophomore) nearly completed a two-handed tomahawk dunk over two defenders, electrifying the crowd.
