SCBL Fall Basketball has lots of familiar faces putting up big numbers

The 15th season of the Select Competition Basketball League (SCBL) is underway. The fall league takes place every Sunday at Executive Education.

And, as usual, the league features a lot of stars who will shine this winter. Blake Hargrove, the former Liberty High standout who is now in his junior year at the Hun School in Princeton, New Jersey, comes back to the area for the league.

He helped get the season off to a high-flying start last Sunday. Here are all the results, provided by league founder and director Ed Jennings:

Girls Division games

Mercury 75, Sky 60 … Palin Coleman 25 points for Mercury; Savannah Henry and Ava Jordan 10 each for Sky.

Fever 67 Aces 53 … Jayla Rosario and Ava Kopetskie 18 each for Fever; Chloe Rumelhart 16 for the Aces.

Notes: Coleman is now a sophomore at Perkiomen School after transferring from Bethlehem Catholic. Henry is a sophomore at Executive; Jordan is a freshman at Easton; Rosario is a senior at Dieruff and both Kopetskie and Rumelhart are seniors at Liberty. Coleman was named the Week 1 MVP.

NCAA Boys Division games

For kids in grades 7-9

Duke 79, Cincinnati 65 … Adrian Hanna 24 points for Duke; Jaylen Brown 16 for Cincinnati.

Michigan State 61, Virginia 48 … Tate Buck 19 for Michigan State; Kayden Sarver 18 for Virginia.

Michigan 63, Georgetown 62 (OT) … Elijah Rodriguez 16 for Michigan; Will Haste 27 for Georgetown.

Notes: Hanna is a freshman at Emmaus; Brown and Sarver are Allen freshmen; Buck is a Palmerton freshman; Rodriguez is a Liberty freshman and Haste is a Saucon Valley freshman. Houston Falwell, a Northampton 7th grader, and Haste are the Week 1 co-MVPs.

NBA Boys Division games

For kids in grades 10-12

Rockets 62, Nets 60 … Adam Cerezo Rojo 20 points for Rockets.

Warriors 62, Lakers 58 … no scoring leaders reported.

Trailblazers 83, Celtics 69 … Blake Hargrove 25 for Trailblazers.

Notes: Cerezo Rojo is a senior at the Perkiomen School; Hargrove was the Week 1 NBA Division MVP.
