Search on for driver of hit-and-run truck in I-4 wreck that killed 3, FHP says

Three people are dead and one person is injured after a fatal hit-and-run crash in Volusia County on Saturday night, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

At approximately 9:55 p.m., a 2025 Dodge Durango, a 2013 Ford Focus, a 2001 Suzuki motorcycle, and a 2020 Honda Pilot were traveling eastbound on I-4 east of Debary Avenue, FHP said. The driver of the Dodge Durango changed from the center lane to the inside lane in the direct path of the Ford Focus.

As a result, the left side of the Dodge Durango struck the right side of the Ford Focus, FHP said. This impact caused a chain reaction with the Suzuki motorcycle. The initial impact between the two cars caused the Ford Focus to run off the roadway left and collide with the guardrail. Subsequently, the sedan re-entered the eastbound lanes and struck the Honda Pilot.

After the collision, the driver of the Dodge Durango fled the scene, FHP said. The 47-year old driver of the Ford Focus was transported to Advent Health Fish Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The motorcycle driver, Honda pilot driver and passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

FHP said the Dodge Durango was later found unoccupied by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office in a parking lot with damage consistent with the collision. Traffic homicide investigators have taken the vehicle into evidence.

Anyone with information about this crash is asked to call FHP at *347 or the Crimeline at  1-800-423-TIPS.

This crash remains an active investigation.
