Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger’s administration picked more than 40 businesses to kick off her inauguration weekend with the Made in Virginia Market event on Friday, Jan. 16, in Richmond.

The event will be held in Richmond’s Shockoe Bottom.

The inauguration for Virginia’s 75th governor is set for Jan. 17 in Richmond.

The governor-elect’s office said in a Friday statement that the market event will offer a “wide array of accessories and apparel, wellness products, toys, games, art, paper goods, and foods offered by local artisans, small businesses, and food vendors.”

Four of the businesses chosen for the free Made in Virginia Market event hail from the Hampton Roads area: Icely + Friends, of Chesapeake; Made in Norfolk, of Norfolk; Magnusson’s, of Williamsburg; and Overtime Creations, of Hampton.

“The upcoming inauguration is about far more than any one person. It’s about the common goals that unite us and the people who shape Virginia,” Spanberger said in a statement Friday. “I’m excited to welcome Virginians to our capital city and to this celebration of some of the businesses, entrepreneurs, and local vendors who are the cornerstone of Virginia’s communities. All Virginians can be a part of the weekend’s festivities.”
