Standout Miami freshman Girard Pringle Jr. enters transfer portal

Hurricanes freshman running back Girard Pringle is entering the transfer portal, according to a post Pringle shared on social media on Wednesday night.

Pringle’s decision to transfer comes after a solid freshman season in which he emerged as a playmaking threat out of Miami’s backfield.

Pringle, a former four-star prospect from Seffner, played in nine games as a freshman, rushing for 375 yards and four touchdowns on 62 carries. He also had four catches for 53 yards and a score.

Pringle played late in blowout games early in the season, but as the season went on and starting running back Mark Fletcher Jr. dealt with an injury, Pringle became a key playmaker.

In the last month of the regular season, Pringle had 302 rushing yards and a touchdown on 41 carries, averaging nearly 7.4 yards per carry. But Pringle did not play much in the postseason, as Fletcher got healthy and got the bulk of the carries. Fellow running back Marty Brown also received more playing time. Pringle had nine offensive snaps and four carries in four playoff games.

Without Pringle, the Hurricanes will have Fletcher, Brown, rising junior Jordan Lyle, rising redshirt sophomore Chris Wheatley-Humphrey and true freshman Javian Mallory on their 2026 roster (unless one of them opts to transfer).
