State police order ‘immediate evacuation’ in Pa. town because of explosive devices

State police at Jonestown on Tuesday morning have requested an “immediate evacuation” within a quarter-mile radius of 11 Central Drive in Mill Creek Township, Lebanon County, near the Berks line.

Troopers said officials will be in that immediate area due to “removing explosive devices,” according to a state police news release.

About 11:15 a.m. troopers reported that all residences within the immediate area have been evacuated. They said anyone else within the quarter-mile radius is on a voluntary basis whether they choose to evacuate.

Further details were not immediately available.
