Suffolk man dies after being hit by train, police say

SUFFOLK — A man died after being hit by a train near downtown, police said.

On Monday morning, Suffolk Emergency Communications was notified of a fatal pedestrian-train collision, according to a news release from Suffolk Police.

Travis Lamar Evans, 44, of Suffolk, was found dead on the railroad tracks.

This investigation is ongoing, and preliminary investigation found he was struck by a train near the intersection of Wellons Street and Railroad Avenue.
