Police are searching for the suspect of a weekend shooting in Portsmouth that left one dead and three injured.
Officers were called about 1 a.m. Saturday to the scene of a shooting around the intersection of Dahlia and Manly streets. That’s in a neighborhood near the Truxton Historic District and a block away from Portsmouth Boulevard.
Upon arrival, first responders found four people with gunshot wounds. One of them was pronounced dead at the scene and three others were transported to a hospital.
The person killed was identified as 29-year-old Kip Miguel Jones II of Portsmouth, according to Public Information Officer for the Portsmouth Police Department Elexcia Washington. She said the three others who had been shot had injuries not considered to be life-threatening as of Tuesday afternoon.
Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating and identifying the person responsible for the shooting. Investigatorsbelieve the suspect fled in a silver/gray 2025 KIA K4 sedan. Police said the car’s front side passenger door has “permanent damage.” Authorities do not know its license plate number.
