Three people taken to hospital after firefighters find ‘high levels’ of carbon monoxide in CT home

Three people were taken to a hospital on Wednesday after firefighters found elevated levels of carbon monoxide in their home in Orange.

Fire crews responded to the home on Racebrook Road at 6:52 a.m. on the report of the residents feeling ill from possible carbon monoxide poisoning, according to the Orange Volunteer Fire Department.

Three people in the home were taken to a hospital for treatment, including one who was “very ill,” fire officials said.

Firefighters metered the home and found “high levels” of carbon monoxide over 600 parts per million.

Fire officials are reminding residents that there should be at least one carbon monoxide detector on each level of a home. The devices should be replaced at least every five years with regular battery maintenance.
