• Since I am a boomer, my doctor had me take a cognitive test administered by one of his assistants. The assistant read me a story in which the character moved to Chicago. He asked what state the character in the story moved to. I said, “Illinois.” He said, “No, the answer is Chicago.” I pointed out that Chicago is a city in the state of Illinois. I wonder what he wrote about me in the file.
• I’m ticked that, though it’s always “Saint” Patrick’s day (and green beer flows), Feb. 14 is not referred to as Saint Valentine’s Day. How about a little love for Saint Valentine?
• To the writer about kids and e-bikes: Agreed, they’re outside, not on devices. Try being on the Seminole Wekiva Trail at Markham Woods about midday on weekends. Kids are popping wheelies in the middle of the trail, some not wearing helmets, and on their phones. It’s a mixed-use trail, but to them, it’s a speedway. After school in neighborhoods, they ride near busy intersections. I’m ticked off at Seminole County Parks and Recreation and the Seminole County Sheriff.
The flip side
• To the person who found my Disney wallet (ID, passes, money) at Epcot and turned it in to lost and found with everything still intact: I want to thank you for being an honest person. All the contents could have been replaced but have some sentimental value. Acts of honesty and consideration for other people like this help restore my faith in humankind. God bless you.
