Nowadays all baseball TV broadcasters are more fans than anything else. We know that they work for the local teams but they could be more neutral and less fanatic when broadcasting a game. They need to realize that not only fans of their teams are watching their games. There are some worse than others. But is a general and common pattern in today’s baseball.
I’m ticked off because the only comedian I really want to see in person is coming to Orlando in November but the cheapest tickets on the Kia Center’s corporate scalper’s site are $129 each (plus parking). Instead, we’ll stay home and watch his Netflix specials.
So many drivers need a refresher on how to proceed at a four-way stop. I have several in my College Park neighborhood that induce anxiety every time I must maneuver through them. A not-quite-rolling-stop, followed by a muscle through the intersection, is not safe for anybody. And you, “kind driver” who sits and waves people to go ahead, are really messing things up for all the drivers. I would love to pull a “Kathy Bates” in “Fried Green Tomatoes” and just ram the offenders, maybe that’s the lesson these idiots need.

The flip side

One of College Park’s most professional and pleasantest mailmen, John, recently retired. Just after retirement, he had his wife drive him around so he could say goodbye to some of us who were on his delivery route. What a nice and considerate gesture! I would have been concerned about his absence and worried about what happened to him otherwise. I thank him for the outreach and I hope he enjoys a long and deserved retirement. We will miss you, John.
I was at Foxtail Coffee on East Colonial Drive Sunday morning and there was only one woman working. She was absolutely amazing and patient and kind and professional, and I wanted to acknowledge her here and let her know how much we all appreciated how hard she was working.
