Top Dolphins-Browns prop bets from Chris Perkins and David Furones

MIAMI GARDENS — It’s Year 2 for Sun Sentinel Dolphins columnist Chris Perkins and Dolphins writer David Furones picking prop bets, which they’ll do for all 17 regular-season games.

Prior to each game, Furones and Perkins will select a “Best Bet” and a “Longshot.” The “Best Bet” selection is a near 50-50 proposition while the “Longshot” is at least +300 or a 3-to-1 probability.

They don’t place dollar amounts on their bets (neither wants to go broke), but you’re welcome to wager as much as you can afford.

Furones is 4-2 on his “Best Bets” while Perk is 1-5. On the “Longshot,” Furones is 2-4 while Perk is 1-5.

Perk’s Best Bet: De’Von Achane anytime TD (-115)

Achane is the best player on the team. Period. Whether the Dolphins win or lose he’ll be good for a touchdown on the ground or in the air. Achane has three rushing touchdowns and three receiving touchdowns this season. This is a virtual lock (I know, I know…famous last words).

Furones’ Best Bet: Dillon Gabriel under 179.5 passing yards

I would’ve loved to go with Perk’s selection, but he got first pick this week. I think he’ll get a win. Meanwhile, I see the Browns refocused on the run game after it took Gabriel 52 pass attempts last week against Pittsburgh just to throw for 221 yards. Miami’s league-worst run defense, plus the weather conditions in Cleveland have coach Kevin Stefanski limiting how much is on Gabriel’s plate.

Furones lost his four-game winning streak last week, as Darren Waller didn’t hit the receiving over. Perk chose the wrong Chargers running back to go off on Miami’s run defense, siding with Hassan Haskins when it was Kimani Vidal to have a big game.

Perk’s Longshot: Julian Hill anytime TD (+900)

There’s two schools of thought here: the Browns will be heavily focused on shutting down TE Darren Waller, which will leave an opening for Hill. And Hill could have been a TD target two weeks ago but QB Tua Tagovailoa chose to throw to Waller. Hill’s nine receptions are sixth on the team and his 76 receiving yards are fifth. His next TD will be his first career TD.

Furones’ Longshot: Three-leg parlay of Jaylen Waddle under 5.5 receptions, Malik Washington over 2.5 receptions, De’Von Achane over 39.5 rushing yards (+350)

For the first time in this storied piece’s history, we have a parlay! I need all three outcomes to occur. I see six receptions as a big number for Waddle to reach against CB Denzel Ward and the Browns’ seventh-ranked pass defense. Given that, in some potentially sloppy conditions, Washington gets some short, safe throws coming his way from QB Tua Tagovailoa. Achane, even against Cleveland’s No. 3 run defense, should hit 40 or more on the ground easily with how much the run game should be a focal point.

Perk nailed a longshot for the first time this season last week when he called Chargers tight end Oronde Gadsden II’s big game. Furones did not get the Dolphins defense/special teams touchdown he coveted.
