Top Dolphins-Jets prop bet predictions from Chris Perkins and David Furones

MIAMI GARDENS —  It’s Year 2 for Sun Sentinel Dolphins columnist Chris Perkins and Dolphins writer David Furones picking prop bets, which they’ll do for all 17 regular-season games.

Prior to each game, Furones and Perkins will select a “Best Bet” and a “Longshot.” The “Best Bet” selection is a near 50-50 proposition while the “Longshot” is at least +300 or a 3-to-1 probability.

They don’t place dollar amounts on their bets (neither wants to go broke), but you’re welcome to wager as much as you can afford.

Furones is 2-1 on his “Best Bets” while Perk is 0-3. On the “Longshot,” Furones is 1-2 while Perk is 0-3.

Perkins and Furones use the Hard Rock Bet app for odds. Be sure to check the South Florida Sun Sentinel game predictions for Thursday’s outlook.

Perk’s Best bet: De’Von Achane over 5.5 receptions (-110)

I’m riding the Achane train once again because he’s been the Dolphins’ most consistent offensive player. He’s had 10 and nine targets, respectively, in the past two games. And it appears that trend will continue, considering pass protection might be shaky and the Jets will probably focus on shutting down WRs Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

Furones’ Best bet: Garrett Wilson over 60.5 receiving yards (-115)

Wilson has hit the over on this number in two of the first three games, with two different starting quarterbacks. He has at least eight targets each time out thus far, and with that volume, against this Dolphins secondary, he’ll get his. Especially since I think Miami will finally be playing with a lead in this one, meaning the Jets go almost exclusively to the air late. Wilson’s season high in 2024 came in the road game against the Dolphins, and that was when Jalen Ramsey was CB1.

Furones won last week, going against the Dolphins’ ability to contain Buffalo tight end Dalton Kincaid. Perk lost as De’Von Achane didn’t score for him.

Perk’s Longshot: Breece Hall 100+ rushing yards (+525)

The Dolphins’ run defense has been disappointing to start the season. Hall opened the season with a 100-yard game vs. Pittsburgh and has gone way down since then. I feel a rebound coming against a Dolphins defense that still hasn’t found its footing.

Furones’ Longshot: Darren Waller anytime TD (+550)

Let’s go with the storyline. Waller will be on a pitch count with his snaps, but I figure those opportunities come in the red zone, where he can let his 6-foot-6 frame extend over defenders. I’m going out on a limb saying he gets in the end zone in his Miami debut and first game since the end of 2023.

Neither hit their longshots in last week’s game at Buffalo, as Perk looked for a 100-yard rushing performance from Achane and Furones tried calling a touchdown from the Bills’ defense or special teams.
