A two-alarm fire at a mixed-use building in Torrington is under investigation.
The fire broke out on Thursday around 11:20 p.m. at a building at 118 Migeon Ave. where crews responded when a commercial fire alarm was tripped, according to the Torrington Fire Department. While firefighters were en route they received multiple 911 calls reporting a structure fire.
The first crews on scene could see fire coming from the second-floor windows, leading to a second alarm being called in, fire officials said. Firefighters launched an aggressive interior attack amid heavy fire conditions on the second and third floors, according to fire officials.
A search of the building confirmed that all of the occupants had safely evacuated, fire officials said.
The fire was brought under control within about 40 minutes, having been knocked down just after midnight, according to fire officials.
No injuries were reported to any occupants. Fire officials said two firefighters were evaluated by medics at the scene for what was described as “minor concerns.”
Mutual aid at the scene was provided by the Winsted, Drakeville and Harwinton Westside Volunteer Fire Departments.
According to its website, the mixed-use building houses Platinum Salon.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Torrington Fire Marshal’s Division with assistance from the Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit.
