Two CT men arrested, found with multiple illegal guns during traffic stop

An overnight traffic stop by the Manchester Police Department has led to the arrest of two men for multiple illegal firearms.

Kevin Archer Jr., 19, and Xavier Rodriguez, 18, both of Manchester, are facing multiple charges on West Middle Turnpike shortly after 3 a.m. on Sunday morning.

During the course of the traffic stop, police allegedly located a loaded firearm Archor’s pants waistband and allegedly a second loaded firearm under the driver’s seat and allegedly a third loaded firearm in Rodriguez’s backpack, according to the Manchester Police Department.

“All three firearms were equipped with illegal high-capacity extended magazines, containing 24 rounds, 20 round and 16 rounds respectively,” according to the Manchester Police Department. “One of the firearms was fitted with fully an automatic modification switch, allowing it to fire as a machine gun.”

Archer Jr., the driver, was charged with improper turn, two counts of illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, two counts of carrying a pistol without a permit, two counts of illegal possession of a large capacity magazine, and failure to register a machine gun.

Rodriguez, the passenger in the vehicle, was charged with illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, carrying a pistol without a permit, and illegal possession of a large capacity magazine.

Both were held on $500,000 bonds and are scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Monday.
