Two men accused of trying to steal exit signs on I-91 in Windsor

Two men were arrested Wednesday and accused of stealing traffic signs on Interstate 91 in Windsor.

Troopers responded to I-91 North just prior to Exit 37 at 8:29 a.m. on the report of a larceny involving state Department of Transportation Exit signs, according to Connecticut State Police.

State police arrested 42-year-old Andrew Lampkin and 46-year-old Jonathan Riopelle both of Vernon. They each face charges of improper parking on a highway, negligent pedestrian and third-degree larceny.

Troopers allege both men tried stealing DOT signs from the highway. A photo released by state police shows multiple Exit signs that were loaded onto the back of a pickup truck.

Both men were each released on a $500 bond and are expected to be arraigned in Hartford Superior Court on Nov. 21.
