Two teens identified as victims in Auburn-Gresham double homicide

Two of the people found fatally shot inside a vacant Auburn Gresham apartment earlier this week, along with a third shooting victim who survived, were teenagers, according to authorities.

Chicago police found all three victims at a building near 82nd Street and Marshfield Avenue early Wednesday.

Autopsies performed Thursday confirmed that both victims died from multiple gunshot wounds and were ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Gresham District (6th) officers responding to the call of a shooting about 8 a.m. Wednesday found one of the victims with a gunshot wound to the head on a rear porch, according to a police report. Officers followed a trail of blood into the building and found the two other victims, one a 21-year-old man with two gunshot wounds to his right shoulder.

The survivor told police that three unknown males entered the apartment and “shot the whole house up,” without providing further details, the report stated.

Police noted that the scene of the shooting had several vacant apartments and the victims were there illegally when they were shot. Police did not say what they believe the motive was.

No arrests had been made as Calumet Area detectives continued their investigation.
