UCF tabs Tayven Jackson as its starting quarterback vs. North Carolina

UCF handed the starting quarterback position to redshirt junior Tayven Jackson for their matchup against North Carolina on Saturday.

This marks Jackson’s second consecutive start after he led the Knights to an impressive 68-7 victory over North Carolina A&T on Sept. 6. He stepped in for Cam Fancher, who took the helm in the season opener against Jacksonville State on Aug. 28 but left the game early in the second quarter due to an injury.

The 22-year-old Jackson has completed 64% (29 of 45) for 471 yards with two touchdowns while also rushing for a pair of scores.

Fancher returned to practice this week, but coach Scott Frost wasn’t sure if the redshirt senior would be available this weekend.

Recruiting weekend

UCF was welcoming 30 priority recruits and their families and guests for Saturday’s game against the Tar Heels. The Knights have the 76th-ranked recruiting class with 14 commitments in Frost’s first class since returning to the program.
