UCF‘s football game against North Carolina A&T was delayed by at least an hour due to weather conditions.
Originally set to kick off at 7 p.m., officials were forced to push back the start of the game to 8:02 p.m. due to storms in the area.
“Inclement weather, including lightning, remains in the area. The game will not begin before 8:00 pm,” UCF officials shared on social media at 5:45 p.m. About an hour later, officials updated the situation, posting “Update: Inclement weather remains in the area but is moving out. Kickoff is scheduled for shortly after 8 pm!”
Rain pelted Acrisure Bounce House Stadium two hours before the scheduled 7 p.m. kickoff. The impending weather forced the team to cancel the Knight Walk.
This marked the second consecutive game for the Knights to experience a weather delay, as their season opener against Jacksonville State had a two-hour delay due to nearby lightning. The game kicked off on time, but with 10:45 left in the second quarter, officials paused the game after lightning was spotted within 8 miles of the stadium. The game was scoreless at the time with UCF holding the ball.
Both teams returned to the field around 9:45 for warmups before resuming play at 9:55.
