UConn quarterback Joe Fagnano was one of eight QBs nationally to be recognized as one of this week’s Manning Award ‘Stars of the Week’. The award, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, was created in 2004 to honor legendary quarterbacks Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning.
Fagnano was joined on this week’s list by Carson Beck (Miami), Walker Eget (San Jose State), Blake Horvath (Navy), Nico Iamaleava (UCLA), Colton Joseph (Old Dominion), Jaylen Raynor (Arkansas State), and Brendan Sorsby (Cincinnati).
College football fans can follow the Manning Award on social media (@ManningAward) to vote for what they think was the best performance from this past weekend. The top vote-getter will earn honors as Manning Award Quarterback of the Week after voting closes on Wednesday at 10 am.
Fagnano led the Huskies to their third-straight win this past Saturday, a 51-10 victory over FIU at Rentschler Field. Fagnano, who only needed to play three quarters in the lopsided win, threw for 355 yards, his most in a UConn uniform, and four touchdowns on the day.
On the season, Fagnano has completed 131 of 195 passes (67.2%) for 1,556 yards and 11 touchdowns with no interceptions. He has a passer rating of 152.82 on the season through six games, and is currently ranked seventh in the country in passing yards, 22nd in passing TDs, and 25th in passing yards per game (259.3).
