No. 9 Miami (5-1) vs. Stanford (3-4), Saturday, 7 p.m., ESPN
Latest line: Miami is favored by 29 1/2 points
Adam Lichtenstein, Miami Hurricanes Writer: Miami 38, Stanford 10
A lot of things went wrong for the Hurricanes in their first loss of the season last week against Louisville. The offense sputtered and the defense was on its heels early. Stanford should provide an opportunity for Miami to get on the right track. Although the Cardinal just upset FSU in Palo Alto, Stanford is still one of the worst statistical teams in the Power 4. The Cardinal is currently 121st nationally in points per game and 94th nationally in points allowed per game. Both bode well for the Hurricanes.
Dave Hyde, Sun Sentinel Sports Columnist: Miami 38, Stanford 14
Last week’s loss to Louisville was either a sign of trouble to come or the bad outlier good teams have. Let’s go with the latter, especially with a struggling Stanford team coming to town. The Cardinal managed to beat FSU at home last week, but the Seminoles are in a free fall. Stanford has lost ACC games to Virginia and SMU by a combined margin of minus-52. Looks like a get-well week for Miami.

Miami is a whopping 29 1/2-point favorite over Stanford. That may seem eye-opening, but overmatched Stanford will be hard-pressed to muster any success against the No. 9 Hurricanes in Miami. While the Cardinal upset FSU at home last week, the Seminoles are reeling with four straight losses after a 3-0 start. Just how did FSU stun then-No. 8 Alabama in the opener? Nevertheless, injury-riddled Stanford has gotten pummelled by BYU (27-3), Virginia (48-20) and SMU (34-10). Look for Carson Beck, coming off the worst game of his career after throwing four interceptions in a loss to Louisville, to get on track.
