A man died after being hit by a vehicle in Virginia Beach early Wednesday morning.

Just before 1 a.m., officers responded to the 2200 block of S. Independence Blvd. for a crash involving a pedestrian, according to a release. That’s in a residential area near Princess Anne Road.

Morgan Babecki, 29, of Virginia Beach, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle involved stayed at the scene, according to police, and cooperated with investigators. No charges are anticipated, police said.

The crash is being investigated by the VBPD Traffic Safety Unit.
