Jailen Bedford had 21 points and Tobi Lawal posted 18 points and 15 rebounds to help Virginia Tech turn back Charlotte 84-76 Sunday at Cassell Coliseum.
Bedford made 7 of 12 shots, including four 3-point baskets, for Tech (4-0). Lawal earned his third double-double this season. Jaden Schutt scored 12 off the bench for the Hokies on 4-for-8 shooting from 3-point range, and Neoklis Avdalas scored 10. Reserve Damoni Harrison scored 18 to lead the 49ers (2-2). Anton Bonke had 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Holy Cross 67, Hampton 61: Joe Nugent led Holy Cross with 22 points and three steals as the Crusaders (1-3) beat the Pirates (2-3) at Brown’s multiteam event in Providence, Rhode Island. Tyler Boston scored 14 points for Holy Cross.
Xzavier Long finished with 21 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and three steals for the Pirates (2-3). Hampton also got 12 points from Daniel Johnson and 11 from Quintin Cooper.
Regent 84, Randolph 74: Christian Brown had 28 points and eight rebounds as the Royals (1-2) went to Lynchburg, jumped to a 33-10 lead and held off the WildCats (0-2). Grant Worley added 12 points for Regent.
Viktor Parson, a Western Branch High graduate, scored 20 for Randolph.
Ohio State 64, Notre Dame 63: Bruce Thornton had 24 points and 7-foot Christoph Tilly scored 14 of his 18 in the second half, culminating with a drive down the lane for a contested layup with 13 seconds to go in Columbus.
The Buckeyes (4-0) had missed 6 of 7 shots after building a six-point lead with 6 1/2 minutes to play. Markus Burton scored 14 points for the Irish (3-1) but was 3 of 14 from the floor.
Wake Forest 109, UMass Lowell 75: Juke Harris and Tre’Von Spillers each scored 21 points for Wake Forest (3-1), which rode a 61-point second half at home to a rout of the River Hawks (1-4).
Cleveland State 87, Radford 82: Led by Dayan Nessah’s 20 points, the Vikings (2-3) overcame the Highlanders (2-3) in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Josiah Harris scored 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for Cleveland State.
For Radford, Del Jones had 19 points and five assists and Dennis Parker Jr. added 15 points.
No. 1 Houston 73, No. 22 Auburn 72: Freshman point guard Kingston Flemings scored 22 points, Chris Cenac Jr. had 18 points and nine rebounds, and the Cougars (4-0) held off the Tigers (3-1) in a matchup of 2025 Final Four teams in Birmingham, Alabama.
In the waning seconds, two driving attempts by Tahaad Pettiford, who led Auburn with 15 points, were nixed by Houston, including a block by Flemings. Auburn’s out-of-bounds lob play with 1 second left was batted away at the rim.
Keyshawn Hall led the Tigers with 20 points and 11 rebounds, though he made only 6 of 16 shots. He injured his right foot after being fouled with 4:14 left. He sank two free throws before hobbling to the bench.
