Warm Friday arrives ahead of extremely dangerous weekend cold

Friday’s weather is warm with highs in the 70s, but there are numerous warnings ahead of the weekend.

The day’s weather will be sunny with winds blowing 5 to 10 mph west to southwest, according to NWS Melbourne.

Looking ahead, all of Central Florida is under an extreme cold watch and a freeze watch from 7 p.m. on Saturday to 1 p.m. on Sunday. Temperatures will range from 20 to 28 degrees, with low wind chills ranging from 7 to 18 degrees. Experts recommend that anyone outside cover their exposed skin, dress in layers to avoid frostbite, bring pets indoors and exercise caution with space heaters.

Dangerous boating conditions begin Saturday afternoon and last through Sunday afternoon, according to NWS Melbourne. A Gale watch is in effect.
