Molly Wilson, a Rockville football senior, is close to breaking state records set by female kickers.
Wilson has 152 career points; the total points scored record is 157, held by North Haven’s Sabrina Fronte. She’s also just five made PATs away from the career record in that category, with 143.
Wilson already holds all of Rockville’s school records for kickers, and has the most consecutive extra points kicked by a female player, with 38 from Oct. 12-Dec. 9 last season. She is close to the record for the longest field goal by a female player (she had a 30-yard FG last season, the record is 32).
Rockville (3-0) hosts SMSA (0-3) Friday at 6:30 p.m.
“She knows she’s close but she doesn’t know how close she is,” Rockville coach Erick Knickerbocker said. “She doesn’t want to know.”
Wilson’s dad played football at Rockville and she wears his No. 65. She has been a four-year starter on varsity, one of the few Knickerbocker has had.
Rockville football’s Molly Wilson making a name for herself for more than just kicking
“We haven’t had to worry about it for four years,” he said. “Sometimes we take it for granted. We see teams that lose by a point or they have to go for two because they can’t kick an extra point.
“Two years ago, both playoff games, we won by one point. She’s been in those situations for four years. We’re very lucky to have someone who kicks like 90 percent.”

Hartford co-op gets first win

We just had to make sure we stayed the course.”
