Edgewater (8-0) continued to roll through the season unscathed with a 47-0 rout of Winter Springs on Friday night, and the Eagles continue to sit atop the Sentinel’s Super 16 Coaches Poll. The Eagles received 12 first-place votes from the 14 voting coaches. The other two went to The First Academy (4-3) and DeLand (7-0), just like last week.
The Top 10 teams also remained unchanged, with Jones (5-2), Bishop Moore (7-0), Dr. Phillips (6-1) and Boone (7-0) rounding out the Top 5.
Week 8 Football Rewind: Hagerty shocks Brantley; Lake Mary tops rival Seminole; DP wins
The biggest move came from Lake Brantley, which fell out of the Super 16 after a 24-7 loss to Hagerty. The Patriots, No. 14 a week ago, were replaced in the poll by South Lake (6-1), which moved in at No. 16. Hagerty just missed entry into the Super 16, edged out by South Lake by three points.
There are three ranked-on-ranked games this week, led by No. 1 Edgewater hosting No. 4 Dr. Phillips on Friday. In two other non-district games, No. 8 Evans (6-1) will travel to No. 10 Lake Mary (5-2), and No. 12 Ocoee (5-2) will host No. 15 Winter Park (3-4).
The Class 3A, District 6 title will be on the line at Tavares (5-2) as No. 2 Bishop Moore (7-0) invades. The winner earns automatic berth into the state playoffs.
