Rosa Parks: Rosa Parks became a symbol of the Civil Rights Movement after her arrest on December 1, 1955. Riding home from work on a city bus in Montgomery, Alabama, she was ordered to surrender her seat to a white passenger after the driver moved the dividing line between the two segregated sections of the bus.
