The Lehigh Valley could get some very light snow Sunday into Monday as a storm system passes south of the region, according to forecasters.
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey, said there is a slight chance of light snow or rain Sunday night, but it is very dependent on how far north the system tracks. As of Saturday, forecasters said there was a 29% chance of precipitation, and a 15% chance of 1 inch or more of snow.
The exact location and snowfall amounts still remain uncertain, the weather service said. Temperatures right around the freezing mark mean that any snow that does fall may not stick, according to forecasters.
We continue to monitor the low expected to pass to the south of the region Sunday into Monday. Details remain uncertain, but primarily rain is expected for the southern coastal plain with potentially some snow for areas further north. #DEwx #MDwx #NJwx #PAwx pic.twitter.com/q2bPzzk2JI

Following Monday, temperatures are expected to warm up to well above normal for several days. Highs in the mid to upper 40s are likely through Friday.
“The temperatures should allow for some of the abundant snowpack to start to melt, but it may not melt as much as it could due to the cloudy skies,” meteorologists wrote Saturday in the daily forecast discussion.
Additionally, there is a chance of rain Wednesday through Thursday. Any rain that comes will be beneficial while both Lehigh and Northampton counties are under a drought watch. Rainfall totals have been about 9 inches below normal over the past six months, according to weather service data.
