Williamsburg city manager resigns, interim city manager named to post

Williamsburg City Manager Andrew Trivette has resigned.

The City Council accepted his resignation during a special meeting Wednesday morning. Deputy City Manager Michele Mixner DeWitt will serve as interim city manager, according to a news release.

“As the resignation is a personnel matter, no further details will be provided,” the city said in a statement. “City Council thanks Trivette for his service and dedication to the Williamsburg community over the past 10 years.”

Trivette started working for the city in 2016 as an assistant city manager and was named city manager in 2018. The council credits Trivette with guiding the city through the turmoil of the COVID-19 pandemic, launching the Future Festival and overseeing the construction of a new fire station, police station and the Greater Williamsburg Sports and Events Center.

DeWitt’s past roles with the city include serving as its first economic development director prior to being promoted to assistant city manager in 2021 and deputy city manager in 2025.
