Windermere High School junior Rylee Erisman set a national high school competition record with a 46.73-second time in the girls 100-yard freestyle final in Friday night’s FHSAA Class 4A swimming and diving championship meet in Ocala.
She added that to the two state record swims she had at the 2024 state meet. But this time there was a special treat as the Olympic hopeful was able to share two more records with teammates at the FAST aquatic center Ocala.
Early in the evening, Erisman teamed with standout senior Brynn Lavigueur and juniors Aidyn Reese and Lilliana Krstolic to win the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:38.96. That obliterated the previous FHSAA championship record of 1:40.81.
And at the tail end of the night Erisman was joined by Lavigueur, Krstolic and sophomore Lizzie Johnson in winning the 400 free relay with another championship record time, 3:19.16. That shaved about a quarter of a second off the previous standard (3:19.39).
Erisman scored her fourth win in four races with a 21.67 time in the 50 free. A year ago, she set the FHSAA record in that event with a 21.61 sprint as she also won four events.
Erisman’s 100 free time eclipsed the 47.13 state meet record she set last year and broke the previous U.S. high school record of 46.98 set in 2020 by Gretchen Walsh, who won two Olympic gold medals in 2024.
Lavigueur, who signed to swim for Texas this week, matched Erisman’s four first-place finishes. She won the 200 individual medley in 1:58.23 and the 100 backstroke in 52.21 seconds.
