Wolf Pack roster grows in advance of Wednesday’s preseason opener at Bridgeport

Some familiar faces are headed back to Hartford on Tuesday after the New York Rangers announced the assignment of 11 more players to the Wolf Pack roster.

The Rangers, the NHL parent club of the AHL team, are sending a group that includes veteran goaltender Dylan Garand, forwards Anton Blidh and Bryce McConnell-Barker and defenseman Blake Hillman in time for Wednesday’s preseason opener vs. the Bridgeport Islanders.

Garand started 38 games in goal for Hartford in 2024-25 with a 20-10-8 record, a .913 save percentage and three shutouts. Blidh was among the team leaders with 19 goals and 36 total points.

Wednesday’s game at Bridgeport is not open to the public. The two teams will meet again on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Trinity rink in a game that is open to fans. Hartford opens the season on Oct. 11 at Wilkes Barre/Scranton at 6 p.m. The home opener is Oct.. 17 at 7 p.m. at PeoplesBank Arena, also vs. Wilkes Barre.
