After their seven-game winning streak ended Saturday night, the Norfolk Admirals find themselves in a losing streak.
Khristian Acosta scored twice as the Worcester Railers won 3-2 Sunday at Scope, their second one-goal victory in two days, to earn a pair of victories in their three-day, three-game ECHL series.
Despite lots of snow and ice slowing and endangering Hampton Roads transportation, Sunday’s attendance was announced at 3,176.
Goalie Isaac Poulter made 23 saves but took the loss, dropping his season record with Norfolk to 12-8; he’s 2-0 with the American Hockey League’s Manitoba Moose.
Worcester goalie Parker Gahagen stopped 26 shots, including 12 in the third period, for the victory as his team twice overcame deficits.
Chase Yoder continued his recent surge with a power-play goal 6:55 into the game, putting the Admirals ahead 1-0. Acosta replied with the tying goal at 18:18 of the first.
Kristóf Papp put the Admirals ahead 2-1 9:49 into the middle period off Brady Fleurent’s second assist of the afternoon, but Acosta netted his second tying goal of the game at 13:41.
The third period’s only goal came 6:11 in, with Drew Callin scoring the eventual winning goal for the Railers (18-17-2-0). Admirals coach Jeff Carr pulled Poulter for an extra attacker for about the final 1 1/2 minutes, but to no avail.
Now 5-2 on its long homestand, Norfolk (14-21-2-0) will complete it Friday and Saturday with a pair of 7:05 p.m. games against the Trois-Rivières Lions.
