CT bike shop to close its doors after serving cycling community for two decades

Niantic Bay Bicycles will be closing its doors next year after two decades in business in Niantic.

The shop announced on social media Saturday that the business will close for good on March 1, 2026.

“It’s been a hard few years trying to stay open. This now is giving me the opportunity to follow a longtime dream of mine to travel/explore Van Life, camp, hike, bike around our country and hopefully around the world,” Niantic Bay Bicycles ownership posted on social media on Saturday.

Owners noted that Niantic Bay Bicycles remains stocked with new and used bikes for sale and will still be performing repairs and tune-ups.

“Niantic Bay Bicycles carries high-quality bikes and provides outstanding service. Our shop is fully stocked with our most popular models. We also are happy to place custom order to get the exact bike have been dreaming about,” according to the company website.

“Please continue to support us and send us out with a big bang. Much is priced at affordable prices, and everything must go,” ownership stated on social media.

The cycling community is lamenting the announcement of the store’s closing. Many noted gratitude, such as a customer who shared, “Thank you for all of the help with my bicycling adventures!”

“Sorry to hear. You will be missed,” another one posted.

The shop is located at 8 Methodist St. in Niantic. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Niantic Bay Bicycles is closed on Sunday.
