CT man gets two years in federal prison for trafficking large amounts of fentanyl in Hartford area

A New Britain man has been sentenced to two years federal prison for trafficking fentanyl in the Hartford area.

Henry Meneses Jr., 33, was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Janet C. Hall in New Haven to 24 months in prison followed by four years of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute fentanyl on June 24.

Court records show that an investigation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration Hartford Task Force revealed that Meneses was reportedly selling large quantities of fentanyl in the Hartford area.

Meneses reportedly sold 6,000 dose bags of fentanyl to an individual who had driven from Vermont to pick up the drugs on Jan. 6, according to court records. On Feb. 25, investigators reportedly made a controlled purchase of 1,200 dose bags of fentanyl from him on Franklin Avenue in Hartford.

Court records show that Meneses was arrested on March 25. During searches of his home and vehicle, investigators reportedly seized two handguns, five gun magazines, ammunition and more than $6,000 in cash.

Meneses, who is currently released on a $100,000 bond, is required to report to prison on Jan. 7, 2026.
