Ecuadorian man accused of recording sexual abuse of a child gets 25-year prison sentence

A Ecuadorian man previously living in Danbury was sentenced to 25 years federal prison on Tuesday for recording his sexual abuse of a child.

Enrique Paulo Pucha-Jimenez, 34, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Kari A. Dooley in Bridgeport to 300 months in prison after pleading guilty to production of child pornography on Aug. 1, 2024, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Court records show that, on multiple occasions between November 2020 and August 2023, Pucha-Jimenez reportedly sexually abused a girl who was between the ages of 9 and 12 years old, and used his cellphone to take photographs and videos of the abuse.

Pucha-Jimenez was arrested by the Danbury Police Department on Aug. 16, 2023, on state sexual assault and risk of injury charges.  Forensic analysis of his cellphone reportedly revealed 576 images and 36 videos of child sex abuse material involving the girl, according to court records.

Pucha-Jimenez has been detained since his arrest. The state charges against him are pending, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Pucha-Jimenez faces immigration proceedings after he completes his prison term.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Danbury Police Department and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel E. Cummings with the assistance of the Office of the State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Danbury.
