High school football live Week 4: No. 2 Jones at No. 1 Edgewater tops menu

Week 4 of the high school football season is highlighted by tonight’s Jones vs. Edgewater collision. That’s become the juiciest rivalry in the Orlando area with both teams having multiple major college prospects and plenty of pride.

The slate also includes a duel of unbeatens at Boone, big home challenges for highly-ranked Lake Mary and Ocoee, and the 102nd edition of the storied St. Cloud vs. Kissimmee Osceola rivalry.

No. 2 Jones (2-1) at No. 1 Edgewater (3-0)

Coverage by Chris Hays

PRE-GAME NOTES:

These downtown Orlando powers are 4-4 against each other since their Metro Conference rivalry resumed in 2019.

The visiting Tigers are No. 4 in 4A after suffering a 28-25 upset loss to Evans in Orlando’s “Soul Bowl” game last week.

Edgewater is No. 5 in 5A.

Jones won 31-21 last season at Camping World Stadium. In 2023 and 2024, when they were in the same classification and district, Edgewater won the regular season showdowns and Jones bounced back to win postseason rematches.

The highlight reel clash came in 2021, when Edgewater won 52-59 in four overtimes.

Coverage by Nate Marrero

PRE-GAME NOTES:

DP has beaten the Knights three times since the series was renewed in 2022, but every game was competitive.

MaxPreps favors Ocoee by a very thin margin over the Panthers, who reached the Class 7A state semifinal round a year ago.

This rivalry kicked off in 1925 and there have been 102 games played as the teams met two times in 1927 and 1931.
