Investigation into multiple crashes in Coventry leads to discovery of drugs, gun, nets two arrests

Two people were arrested last week when a woman accused of driving under the influence took off from multiple crashes in Coventry, which led to the alleged discovery of a “large quantity” of narcotics and a loaded firearm.

Last Thursday, police received the report of a driver who struck a vehicle from behind on Boston Turnpike near Twin Hills Drive and took off, according to the Coventry Police Department.

The fleeing driver, reportedly in a large SUV, then allegedly struck another vehicle near Swamp Road before hitting a mailbox and a utility pole further down the road, police said.

During the investigation, a man identified as 37-year-old Jose Ayala of Manchester arrived at the scene and reportedly told officers he was a relative of Vazquez, police said. Police allege he interfered with the officers before he was arrested.
