Orioles unveil new home run celebration that involves beer funnel

Every team around MLB seems to have their own unique way of celebrating when a teammate hits a home run. Whether it’s a fancy suit jacket or an iced out chain, it’s always a party in the dugout.

But the Baltimore Orioles brought a real party element to their dugout on Monday night when Ryan Mountcastle went deep at Camden Yards.

Last season, it was a big Orioles chain that players would put on their teammate when he hit a round tripper and returned to the dugout. This year, though, things have changed with a funnel.

Yes, a drinking funnel that you’d normally see beer poured down at parties.

No, there are no alcoholic beverages consumed by the slugger, but rather water.

Mountcastle was seen drinking from the orange and black lead as his teammates poured a water bottle into the orange funnel. He got down on one knee and chugged the water as his teammates looked on.

ORIO,ES’ GRAYSON RODRIGUEZ SHARES ‘PRETTY SPECIAL’ MOMENT WITH DAD AFTER MLB DEBUT

Orioles fans were in the comments loving the new celebration with one fan saying “after this, we may never lose again.”

Baltimore didn’t lose this game at least, defeating the Oakland Athletics, 5-1, thanks in part to Mountcastle’s two-run homer that came off A’s starter JP Sears.

But Mountcastle wasn’t the only Orioles player to get the funnel treatment.

Adley Rutschman crushed a solo homer to left field in the bottom of the third inning to make it a 3-1 game, and he was quick to complete his funnel assignment when he got back to the dugout.

BREWERS OUTFIELDER SAYS ‘USUALLY SOMETHING GOOD HAPPENS’ IN WIFE’S ABSENCE AFTER HITTING WALK-OFF RUN

Then, Austin Hays hammered a solo shot himself to center field in the bottom of the sixth inning to make it 4-1, and he was met with the funnel once he got through the line of high fives in the dugout.

So one thing is for certain with this new celebration: As long as the Orioles hit home runs, players are going to remain hydrated.

Now that’s a win-win.

Riley Gaines accuses Megan Rapinoe of ‘virtue signaling’ over Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act

Riley Gaines, a former NCAA star swimmer at Kentucky, accused Megan Rapinoe of “virtue signaling” as the soccer star and others have pushed back against the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act.

Gaines reacted to a Rapinoe tweet from March. The reaction also came on the same day Rapinoe, Sue Bird and 38 others signed an Athlete Ally letter to House lawmakers opposing the act. The Rapinoe tweet Gaines reacted to read, “Today, politicians in DC are claiming to ‘protect women’s sports’ by pushing a trans & intersex sports ban. Call your Congressional rep today to say women’s sports need protection from unequal pay, sexual abuse & lack of resources, NOT from trans kids.”

“It’s worth noting that 1) you are done playing sports competitively and 2) because you aren’t sexually attracted to men, you will never have a daughter to defend. To me, this simply looks like virtue signaling because you have nothing to personally lose,” Gaines wrote.

Rapinoe’s sexuality, however, has nothing to do with whether she could have a daughter in the future. Rapinoe is engaged to basketball legend Sue Bird.

“I can respect opinions that differ from my own and everyone is entitled to think/speak independently, but I can’t help but think Megan Rapinoe would genuinely shiv any male who tried to take her spot on the US Women’s National Team,” Gaines added.

Gaines has since deleted the tweets.

Athlete Ally, an athlete group that supports LGBTQ+ initiatives, sent the letter on Monday, according to Sports Illustrated. The athletes believe the bill wouldn’t protect women in sports but rather exclude women and girls from getting “mental and physical health benefits.”

GOP MOVES TO ‘SAVE WOMEN’S SPORTS’: BILL BACKED BY RILEY GAINES HEADED FOR HOUSE VOTE

“We believe that gender equity in sport is critical, which is why we urge policymakers to turn their attention and effort to the causes women athletes have been fighting for decades, including equal pay, an end to abuse and mistreatment, uneven implementation of Title IX, and a lack of access and equity for girls of color and girls with disabilities, to name only a few. Our deepest hope is that transgender and intersex kids will never have to feel the isolation, exclusion and othering that H.R. 734 is seeking to enshrine into law,” the letter reads.

The Biden administration’s proposal to forbid outright bans on transgender athletes drew scrutiny last week. The proposed rule establishes that blanket bans would violate Title IX. It would be difficult for schools to ban, for example, a transgender girl from playing on a girls’ baseball team.

The proposed rule would leave room for schools to develop policies that prohibit trans athlete from playing on more competitive teams if those policies are designed to ensure fairness or prevent sports-related injuries.

Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., introduced the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act in February. The bill seeks an amendment to Title IX “to provide that for purposes of determining compliance with Title IX of such Act in athletics, sex shall be recognized based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.”

The bill also says it would be a violation of the act for “a recipient of Federal financial assistance who operates, sponsors, or facilitates athletic programs or activities to permit a person whose sex is male to participate in an athletic program or activity that is designated for women or girls.”

House lawmakers may consider the bill next week.

Anheuser-Busch Distributors Freaking Out Over Transgender Ad Campaign

Anheuser-Busch Distributors Freaking Out Over Transgender Ad Campaign

Distributors for Belgian-owned Anheuser-Busch are reportedly ‘spooked’ over the reaction to the company’s Bud Light transgender ad campaign featuring Dylan Mulvaney’s “365 Days of Girlhood,” according to Beer Business Daily.

In what many thought was an April Fool’s joke, the transgender activist whose act consists of mocking women with exaggerated stereotypes that the left is too stupid to pick up on, revealed that the company had begun featuring Bud Light cans featuring his face, which Mulvaney said was his “most prized possession.” The ad campaign includes a video of Mulvaney drinking Bud Light in a bathtub.

According to the trade publication, which viewed the situation “purely from a marketing and sales perspective,” Mulvaney’s target audience of Gen Z and TikTok viewers is a demographic that the beer company is “desperate” to reach.

“We reached out to a handful of A-B [Anheuser-Busch] distributors who were spooked, most particularly in the Heartland and the South, and even then in their more rural areas,” the beer publication wrote, adding that according to preliminary data, “it appears likely Bud Light took a volume hit in some markets over the holiday weekend,” with the caveat that rural customers are also most likely to celebrate Easter.

“Whether it lasts or whether the publicity sparks incremental off-setting demand from over the ideological divide in metro areas, remains to be seen,” the report added, while noting that it’s hard to “appeal to the sensitivities of a new generation of drinkers” without pissing off their existing customers.

“I’ve never seen the country so hotly divided, sadly,” the author continues, according to Fox News.

The beer company has doubled down on its ad campaign, saying in a statement to Fox News Digital “Anheuser-Busch works with hundreds of influencers across our brands as one of many ways to authentically connect with audiences across various demographics. From time to time we produce unique commemorative cans for fans and for brand influencers, like Dylan Mulvaney. This commemorative can was a gift to celebrate a personal milestone and is not for sale to the general public.”

The campaign has led to endless parodies (viewer discretion is advised)…

Last week a VP for Bud Light, Alissa Heinerscheid, explained how the company wants to become the King of ‘Woke’ Beers, and the need to shift away from the “out of touch” frat party image to one of “inclusivity.”

Heinerscheid, a middle-aged, upper income highly-educated white woman, was interviewed on the podcast “Make Yourself At Home” on March 23.

“I’m a businesswoman, I had a really clear job to do when I took over Bud Light, and it was ‘This brand is in decline, it’s been in a decline for a really long time, and if we do not attract young drinkers to come and drink this brand there will be no future for Bud Light,'” she said.

Heinerscheid stressed a need to “evolve and elevate” the Bud Light brand away from the “fraternity/out of touch humor” brand of the younger generation. She expanded on that idea:

“What does evolve and elevate mean? It means inclusivity… It means shifting the tone. It means having a campaign that’s truly inclusive and feels lighter and brighter and different. And appeals to women and to men. And representation is sort of the heart of revolution.”

Good luck with that.

Meanwhile, where is all this woke advertising coming from?

‘Twilight’ star Nikki Reed reveals how she navigated life as child star

Nikki Reed had “no idea” what she was getting into when she rose to fame at a young age.

Reed, now 34, showcased her wild side in the 2003 film “Thirteen” – which chronicled her rebellious lifestyle.

“I certainly had no idea what I was getting myself into,” Reed told Fox News Digital while promoting her clean medicine company Genexa. “I was just 13 years old, and I don’t know how I navigated it, to be honest with you. I think I did the best I could, and I had no idea.”

“I remember being thrown into things like media training and stuff and going like, ‘What is that? You don’t just, like, pour your whole life out?'” she recalled.

“I didn’t know anything,” she explained. “And so I just learned as time went on how to kind of, you know, figure out that aspect of the business.”

IAN SOMERHALDER RETURNS TO VAMPIRE ROOTS, TALKS WORKING WITH WIFE NIKKI REED IN ‘V WARS’

Reed married fellow actor Ian Somerhalder in 2015. The two first sparked romance rumors in 2014 after being spotted together at a farmers market. They confirmed their relationship by attending a comic-con party together a few weeks later.

In 2017, they welcomed their daughter – Bodhi Soleil Reed Somerhalder. Now, Reed and the “Vampire Diaries” star are expecting their second child together. The “Twilight” star announced her pregnancy in January 2023.

Despite being raised by actors, Reed isn’t sure that either of her children will join the entertainment industry.

“I’ve spent the last couple of years really focusing on stepping behind the camera instead of hanging out in front of it,” Reed said. “And I’ve really learned that I think where my heart and passion lie is in nature and being really disconnected from technology and limiting things like screen time and movies and TV and really embracing things like bottle-feeding goats and planting, getting your hands in the soil and understanding agriculture and seedlings and all the things.”

Reed and her family currently live on a farm – which she said is her main focus.

“So, without saying too much because you never know, I would say that I’m definitely steering our lifestyle and our kids into a more nature-focused, farming-focused life.”

Reed grew up in the entertainment industry with her father being a production designer. Reed’s acting start actually happened after Seth Reed began dating Catherine Hardwicke. The writer and director took an interest in 13-year-old Reed’s rebellious nature, which inspired the film “Thirteen.”

The film is loosely autobiographical of Reed’s childhood, and the young star co-wrote the script. “Thirteen” was released in 2003 and curated “connection” for many.

“I just thought, wow, how incredible that 20 years later, there are still people that talk about what that film meant to them,” Reed told Fox News Digital.

“It’s the connection that people felt not just to those characters but then to their own families as a direct result. The conversations that were opened up as a result, and that was really … incredible.”

Reed said people have told her that the film had a big impact on their life.

“I still have people that come up to me to this day to talk about how that film changed their life,” she said. “So, I guess that’s the point of art … is that hopefully you touch someone somewhere enough somehow to have an impact on their life.”

IAN SOMERHALDER CREDITS NIKKI REED FOR HELPING HIM OUT OF 8-FIGURE DEBT AFTER ‘TERRIBLE BUSINESS DECISION’

Reed also saw success with the “Twilight” franchise. Starring as the vampire Rosalie, the actress revealed that the cast is still close “to some degree.”

“Obviously, life has its ebbs and flows and everybody’s going through different things at different times. And we’ve all grown into adults,” she said. “We were kids when we started, but it’s very sweet to see that everybody’s having babies at the same time now.”

“It’s just been so sweet to reconnect now through a totally different lens, which is the lens of parents.”

Reed and Ashley Greene, who portrayed Alice in the films, often speak about their kids, according to the actress. Kellan Lutz, who starred as Emmett, welcomed his first child in 2022. Reed also revealed she’s the godmother of Jackson Rathbone’s child. Rathbone appeared in the movie franchise, written by Stephanie Meyer, as Jasper.

“It’s been really nice to see us all continue our relationships through all these chapters of our lives.”

Reed’s latest chapter involves getting ready for her next child with Somerhalder, although she tells Fox News Digital she’s not really preparing this time around.

“That’s the difference between one and two, is one you’re like, ‘What are all the things I need?’ And two, you’re like, ‘Well, they don’t need much. They just kind of need you.’ So, I’m really underprepared. I’m prepared, underprepared, but I’m kind of just like I’m rolling with it,” she explained.

“It’s been a really busy season of life, and times kind of zoomed by these last few months. And now I’m staring down the road going, ‘Wow, this is really so real and happening.’ And yeah, everyone’s really excited.”

Reed has partnered with Genexa, a clean medication company that specializes in children’s medicine and pain medication.

“Clean medicine is made with the same effective active ingredients but without any artificial fillers. It might seem obvious, but until @genexa that simply didn’t exist,” she recently shared on Instagram. “We ARE the first clean medicine company, and this giant embrace from mainstream retailers is major. As a human I care about this, as a parent I care about this, because these little wins are actually huge steps in the direction of ‘clean’ everything, everywhere.”

Reed revealed that parenting is “amazing” but still “challenging.”

“Children are like little mirrors,” Reed noted. “They have this really incredible way of unknowingly reflecting all your things right back to you in the most beautiful way.”

“There is something very unique that happens when you have this little person in your life that’s, you know, basically a reflection of all the things that you need to be thinking about and focusing on and prioritizing,” she added.

Idaho’s ‘abortion trafficking’ law means adults can be locked up for supplying pills to minors

Idaho Gov. Brad Little signed a law last week that makes it illegal to help a minor get an abortion by supplying them drugs or helping them across state lines to terminate a pregnancy without parental consent.

House Bill 232, the first of its kind, creates a new crime called “abortion trafficking” and prohibits adults from getting abortion drugs for a minor or “recruiting, harboring or transporting the pregnant minor” across state lines to get an abortion without the consent of a parent or guardian, according to the Associated Press.

Little, a Republican, signed the law last Wednesday. Abortion is banned in the state.

Those who are convicted of violating the new law face a potential jail sentence of two to five years and open themselves up to being sued by the parents or guardians of the girl involved.

The law also empowers Idaho’s attorney general to bring charges against people accused of violating the law, even if the county prosecutor chooses not to pursue criminal charges.

IDAHO’S REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR SIGNS BILL TO MAKE IT A FELONY TO PROVIDE HORMONES, PUBERTY BLOCKERS TO MINORS

To ensure compliance with the constitutional right to travel between states, Idaho’s law specifically targets only the portion of a trip that occurs within the state when seeking abortion services from an out-of-state provider.

House Bill 242 does not criminalize, preclude, or otherwise impair interstate travel, nor does it limit an adult woman from obtaining an abortion in another state,” Little said in his signing statement.

“Rather the ‘abortion trafficking’ provision in the bill seeks only to prevent unemancipated minor girls from being taken across state lines for an abortion without the knowledge and consent of her parent or guardian,” the governor added.

IDAHO SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER ATTACKS GOVERNOR IN PROFANE TWEET: ‘I’M P—ING ON YOUR GRAVE’

The bill was met with condemnation from the Idaho state director for Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates-West.

“Yet again, Idaho’s governor disregarded constituents and signed HB 242 into law, creating the nation’s first crime of so-called ‘abortion trafficking.’ This legislation is despicable, and we’re going to do everything in our power to stop it,” the organization tweeted.

Idaho is one of 13 U.S. states that have restricted abortion in all stages of pregnancy since the Supreme Court decision that overturned Roe v. Wade last June.

Thirty-six states mandate parental involvement regarding a minor’s decision to have an abortion, according to the Guttmacher Institute. States such as Washington, Oregon and California, by contrast, have presented themselves as safe havens for abortions.

Idaho also recently passed legislation that makes it a felony to provide cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers to minors.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
