JESSE WATTERS: College kids want to be in history books, but they don’t know what to protest

Fox News host Jesse Watters compares what young adults protested in the past to what college students are protesting today on “Jesse Watters Primetime.”

JESSE WATTERS: Protests are a big part of American history. This country started with a protest, the Boston Tea Party. It sparked the American Revolution. Peaceful protests are so important that they’re protected by the First Amendment. Women protested for the right to vote. MLK marched on Washington with a quarter million people behind him. The Civil Rights Act was passed the next year. In the 1960s and ’70s, college campuses were packed with students protesting the Vietnam War. Some protests were peaceful, some were violent and some turned deadly.

ELON MUSK, OTHERS RESPOND AFTER PROTESTERS SMASH WINDOWS, HURL EGGS AT CHARLIE KIRK EVENT ON COLLEGE CAMPUS

Today, college kids want to be in the history books too, but they don’t know what to protest. Segregation is illegal. There’s no draft, and women have more rights than us. Sure, there’s problems — crime, fentanyl, Chinese balloons — but these kids don’t care about any of that, so they protest words, feelings and isms. At Connecticut College, students locked themselves in a building for 10 days. Why? Because they wanted more money for the “Division of Institutional Equity and Inclusion.” I don’t know what that means. I know what “make love, not war” means, but not that. At Stanford University, the diversity dean — yup, that is a thing — teamed up with students to heckle a judge. The judge was an invited guest. Why did they heckle them? Well, because the judge misgendered a pedophile who transitioned to a female so he could go to a woman’s prison and assault more people.

$5 Million Each And No Taxes? San Francisco Reparations Committee Goes To Town

$5 Million Each And No Taxes? San Francisco Reparations Committee Goes To Town

Lawmakers in San Francisco heard several proposals on Tuesday by a city-approved reparations committee tasked with figuring out how the city can ‘atone’ for decades of racism by the city government.

The more than 100 recommendations included payments of $5 million for every eligible black adult, the elimination of all personal debt and tax burdens, a guaranteed annual income of at least $97,000 for 250 years, and homes for just $1 per family.

Upon hearing the proposals, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors voiced enthusiastic support for the ideas, with some saying that something as trivial as ‘money’ shouldn’t stop the city from doing the right thing. (what?)

Other supervisors were apparently surprised to that politically liberal residents pushed back against the ideas.

“Those of my constituents who lost their minds about this proposal, it’s not something we’re doing or we would do for other people. It’s something we would do for our future for everybody’s collective future,” said supervisor Rafael Mandelman.

Black residents once made up more than 13% of San Francisco’s population, but more than 50 years later, they account for less than 6% of the city’s residents – and 38% of the city’s homeless population. The reparations attempt to rectify historic injustices by focusing not on slavery but rather the city’s discriminatory treatment of Black residents during the period of “urban renewal” in the 1950s through 1970s, which included the razing of a thriving Black neighborhood and the displacement of nearly 20,000 people in the name of “economic development”.

Adopting any of the recommendations would make San Francisco the first major US city to fund reparations, though the effort faces steep financial headwinds and criticism from conservatives. –The Guardian

I don’t need to impress upon you the fact that we are setting a national precedent here in San Francisco,” said Tinisch Hollins, vice-chair of the African American Reparations Advisory Committee. “What we are asking for and what we’re demanding for is a real commitment to what we need to move things forward.”

Critics say the plans are absurd, particularly considering that California never enslaved black people, and that taxpayers who were never slave owners shouldn’t have to pay money to people who were never enslaved.

“This conversation we’re having in San Francisco is completely unserious. They just threw a number up, there’s no analysis,” said John Dennis, chair of the San Francisco Republican Party. “It seems ridiculous, and it also seems that this is the one city where it could possibly pass.”

Saints land NFL’s rushing touchdown leader on 3-year deal: report

The New Orleans Saints have reportedly added more firepower to their running backs room as former Detroit Lions player Jamaal Williams is heading south on a three-year deal.

Williams was the NFL’s rushing touchdown leader last season, finding the colored paint 17 times for the Lions while blowing past his career high, which was four while with the Green Bay Packers.

He also set a career high with 1,066 yards rushing on 262 attempts for Detroit.

Williams’ hard-nosed style of running will try to complement Saints’ Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara, who should still be the team’s leading back despite the addition of Williams.

Kamara had 897 yards rushing and 490 yards receiving but only four total touchdowns on the year over 15 games.

SAINTS’ DEREK CARR REVEALS RAIDERS ONLY ALLOWED HIM TO TALK WITH ONE TEAM FOR POTENTIAL TRADE BEFORE RELEASE

Being that Williams had only nine starts in his 17 games last season, he is used to sharing touches. The Lions sported D’Andre Swift in their backfield as well, so Williams simply gave it his all when it was his turn to carry the ball.

He was also in that role coming into the NFL as a fourth-round pick out of BYU by the Packers, when he backed up Aaron Jones for four seasons.

With the NFC South wide open, the Saints have been making some big moves to upgrade both sides of the ball. On offense, Williams and Kamara will be working with Derek Carr at quarterback after his release from the Las Vegas Raiders. Wide receiver Michael Thomas also agreed to return to New Orleans, who hopes he can stay healthy this season alongside rookie standout Chris Olave.

LIONS SNAG FORMER NFC NORTH RIVAL DAVID MONTGOMERY IN FREE AGENCY: REPORT

Head coach in Dennis Allen will certainly look to make sure everyone is on the same page by Week 1, and Williams could help with that. As NFL fans watched on HBO’s “Hard Knocks,” Williams is a natural, passionate leader in the locker room and is very respected by teammates and coaches alike.

He was even seen shedding tears while giving a team speech during training camp.

New Orleans is hoping Williams brings that fire and his production from last season to a group that averaged 116.6 rushing yards per game.

Dallas Zoo suspect accused of stealing two monkeys indicted for burglary

The man accused of stealing two monkeys from their enclosure at the Dallas Zoo was indicted by a grand jury Wednesday.

Davion Irvin faces two burglary counts, FOX Dallas reported. Authorities said he took two emperor tamarin monkeys named Bella and Finn in late January.

MAN ‘INTENTIONALLY’ CUT DALLAS ZOO LEOPARD AND MONKEY ENCLOSURES, DEAD VULTURE REMAINS MYSTERY: POLICE

The animals were later found safe inside an abandoned home and returned to the zoo. Irvin is also accused of cutting enclosures in another monkey exhibit and the clouded leopard habitat.

The leopard was found inside the zoo unharmed.

When he was arrested, Irvin allegedly told authorities that he would take the animals again if he were given the chance.

In February, the zoo announced that it would be making security upgrades, including enhancing the perimeter fencing, adding security cameras and updating its lighting, because of Irwin’s actions.
