A pedestrian died from an early morning car accident in Portsmouth, according to a press release from the Portsmouth Police Department.

Portsmouth police responded to a call for a car accident involving a pedestrian at about 6 a.m. Wednesday, according to the press release. The crash occurred on the 4300 block of Cedar Lane, near Churchland High School.

The victim, 61-year-old Katuria Grant, had life-threatening injuries from the crash and medics transported her to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Police have no additional information at this time.
