Ticked Off! @it’s vs. its

I am ticked off that too many writers, journalists, ad agencies and the like continue to misuse “it’s” for “its.” “It’s” is a contraction for “it is”. It should not be used as a possessive. It’s (it is) is high time for the grammar police to break out the red pen and recognize “its” place in this continued misappropriation of proper morphology.
Tell me why we can’t just have a universal standard hot and cold shower mechanism instead of all these complicated valves and water reversals! And don’t get me started on the TV remotes!
I am ticked off at WFTV’s volume control. When we turn on one of their programs, we have to set the volume at about 55. Then when certain commercials come on, we get blown out of our chairs. We then decrease the volume substantially, then have to turn it back up when regular content comes back on.

The flip side

I have never had a negative experience while shopping at Publix in over 40 years until last week at the Publix at Southside. I decided to let the manager know of the rude encounter. He was quick and sincere in his apology but also insisted on giving me a free rotisserie chicken, which is where the encounter occurred. Although I repeated that wasn’t necessary, he insisted. He turned my only negative experience back into a positive one. Thanks to an amazing manager at the Publix at Southside.
Thank you to WESH TV for showing us a readable seven-day weather forecast.  The WESH weather forecasters are also very sharp to give us a distinction between inland and coastal, two very different weather patterns. Sadly, another station has chosen to use cartoons that take up more space than reading the weather forecast!
