Two Long Island women, both 66, run over by rolling car

Two senior citizens were run over by a rolling car in Long Island Tuesday afternoon.

Suffolk County police said Lee Radigawas stepping out of her 2020 Mazda shortly before 2 p.m. when the vehicle started rolling backwards in front of a Huntington home. Her arm was run over as she attempted to re-enter the vehicle. Radigawas’ injuries are considered minor.

Her passenger, Susan King, was also injured when her leg was run over as she attempted to exit the moving vehicle. Police called King’s injury serious, but not life threatening.

Both 66-years-old victims were treated at Huntington Hospital.

Authorities said the out-of-control car also rolled over bushes and struck another vehicle.

Law enforcement didn’t give an explanation for the Mazda rolling backwards on what appears to be a sloped road. It’s not clear if a ticket was issued. Long Island police couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.

Authorities are asking that anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
