Caleb Wilson and Henri Veesaar both collected double-doubles, and No. 16 North Carolina pulled away from visiting Georgetown in the second half to win 81-61 Sunday in Chapel Hill.
Wilson tallied 20 points and 14 rebounds, while Veesaar totaled 18 points and 15 boards for the Tar Heels (8-1). KJ Lewis paced the Hoyas (6-3) with 17 points and Julius Halaifonua scored 14.
Georgetown led early, but UNC used a 12-2 run to push its edge to 15 points midway through the second half. Derek Dixon and Luka Bogavac each added 14 points apiece for UNC.
No. 21 Kansas 80, Missouri 60: Darryn Peterson scored 17 points in his return after a month lost to a hamstring injury, and No. 21 Kansas used a 23-3 run spanning halftime to seize control in Kansas City, Missouri.
A potential No. 1 pick in the NBA draft, Peterson had missed the past seven games. He played 17 minutes in the first half but only six in the second, which Peterson spent much of on the bench getting worked on by the training staff. Tre White led the Jayhawks (7-3) with 20 points and 13 rebounds, and Mark Mitchell had 21 points for the Tigers (8-2).
Navy 61, Air Force 56: Austin Benigni scored 23 of his 25 points in the second half and added seven rebounds and five assists for the Midshipmen (6-5) in a home victory. Aidan Kehoe grabbed 15 rebounds to go with 10 points and three blocks. Kam Sanders led the Falcons (3-8) with 15 points.
Army 111, Gallaudet 53: Kevin McCarthy had 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting for the Black Knights (4-7) in their home rout of the Division III Bison. Army’s Jackson Furman provided with 11 points and seven rebounds.
No. 12 Alabama 97, UTSA 55: Jalil Bethea scored 21 points, Labaron Philon Jr. had 20 points, seven rebounds and six assists, and London Jemison also scored 20 for the Crimson Tide (7-2) in a home win. Jamir Simpson led the Roadrunners (4-5) with 20 points.
Hofstra 80, Pittsburgh 73: Cruz Davis scored a career-high 36 points on 14-of-25 shooting, including five 3-pointers, as the Pride (6-4) beat the Panthers (5-5) in Pittsburgh.
Pitt reserve Brandin Cummings poured in a career-high 34 points on 10-of-15 shooting, including 5 of 8 from beyond the 3-point arc. Hofstra — of the Coastal Athletic Association — moved its all-time record against Atlantic Coast Conference members to 6-36.
UNLV 75, Stanford 74: Emmanuel Stephen posted a double-double, and Kimani Hamilton made the second of two free throws with two seconds remaining to rally the Rebels (4-5) at Stanford (7-2). Hamilton’s free throw came 12 seconds after Ebuka Okorie made the second of two foul shots to tie it. Stephen, a 7-foot sophomore, totaled 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Okorie scored 18 to lead the Cardinal.
Radford 89, Saint Francis (Pennsylvania) 56: Jaylon Johnson’s 18 points and seven assists helped the Highlanders (4-7) win at home. Lukas Walls scored 14 points, shooting 5 for 6, including 4 for 5 from beyond the arc. The Red Flash (2-8) were led by Paris Papadatos, who recorded 15 points.
No. 19 Texas Tech 82, LSU 58: Christian Anderson had 27 points, eight assists and five rebounds for the Red Raiders (7-2) in front of a decidedly pro-Texas Tech crowd on a neutral court at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth. J.T. Toppin added 11 points and 15 rebounds.DJ Thomas Jr. scored 13 and Mike Nwoko had 10 for LSU (8-1).
SMU 93, Texas A&M 80, OT: Jaron Pierre Jr. scored 35 points to help the Mustangs (9-1) outlast the Aggies (7-3). Boopie Miller added 19 points, going 10 for 10 from the free-throw line during SMU’s 26-for-28 performance, and B.J. Edwards had nine points, 11 assists and three steals.
Marcus Hill netted 25 points for A&M.
